production of the festival film "wake" about living through the death of a loved one

In September 2024, our studio began production on the film “Wake” by Sasha Potapova. It tells the story of six-year-old Katya, who is forced to live through the death of a loved one, her grandfather.

Her mother is consumed by the wake and her own grief, and the guests hardly care about Katya at all. She has to retreat into her inner world, turning off the TV, where in 2005 the news is full of terrorist attacks and plane crashes. This reality at the turn of eras is also a part of the film we really wanted to show.

The film is made using digital frame-by-frame animation combined with real materials: gouache, watercolor, and other media.

The film is still in production and is funded entirely by our studio. This is an important detail: independent cinema has a destiny freer from producers, the freedom to choose screenings and festivals, and the authorship stays with us. A small team of people who were drawn to the project and fell in love with Katya are working on the animation, visuals, and sound right now. With this small team, we are moving slowly but surely toward completion, and we plan to submit the film to festivals in 2026.
