Animated opening sequence for a documentary about at-risk teenagers

The documentary “228 prim. 1” tells the stories of teenagers who received real or suspended prison sentences for the illegal purchase, possession, transportation, production, or processing of narcotic substances. The film focuses primarily on the psychological side of the issue: how teenagers come to the decision to break the law, who pushes them to it, how they become involved in this system, and what responsibility they bear.

Naturally, the film aims to warn viewers against illegal activities and to show the consequences of work that promises easy money. Our studio was tasked with creating a striking visual sequence that would explore the film’s themes as deeply and thoughtfully as possible. We made the opening sequence in 2D: we drew the characters, animated them using a cut-out technique, and then focused on effects and editing, which mattered a great deal here. We wanted to show the contrast between a bright, carefree childhood and the darkness that suddenly falls when someone literally takes a wrong turn.

The film was released on the VK platform in 2025.
